FAQ

How do I start the process of getting a tattoo?

Have a look through our tattooer portfolios and select the tattooer that works in the style closest to what you are wanting in your next piece. From there contact us to arrange a consult.

We'll usually set up a small 10 - 15 minute consult to start, and we suggest bringing any ideas you have along either on paper or a memory stick, or mailing them to us before the time. The consult is there to give both you and the tattooer clarity on the design required for your session, the tattooer will be able to provide a rough time estimate for the booking based on your design brief.

From there we require a deposit which serves as both a booking and design deposit, and is deducted from the final cost of your tattoo. Due to time constraints we only design for clients with confirmed bookings, and bookings are only assured once a deposit has been received.

How much will my tattoo cost?

The short answer to this is - how long is a piece of string? Obviously costs change depending on the size and level of detail, so we tend to do what most people do, and charge for our time.

We have a flat hourly rate and the shop also has a minimum charge. During the consult the tattooer will be able to give you an indication of hours required for your tattoo. We usually offer a small discount on full day sittings.

Are there medical conditions that prohibit me from getting a tattoo?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding or are suffering from medical blood disorders we cannot proceed with the tattooing process. Certain medications such as blood thinners or acne treatments may also affect the tattooing process. When in doubt it always advisable to check in with a medical professional before booking a consult.

What do I need to do to prepare for my tattoo session?

Bring along a valid ID or drivers license if it's your first session with us. Also, please bring a full stomach. Your tattoo session will be far more enjoyable if you've eaten a good meal beforehand. Avoid alcohol the night before as this will affect your blood thickness on the day of the session, and make sure you don't have anything planned right after your tattoo that would adversely affect your healing (such as exercise or heavy partying).

Can I bring my friends or family along with to the tattoo session?

Unfortunately due to hygiene concerns and for the sake of our artist's concentration we cannot allow any friends or family in the tattooing area.

Despite our rigorous hygiene procedures, and our incessant mopping, we regret that children are not permitted within our studio, for their safety, and our peace of mind.

What are the payment options available?

Deposit payments can be made via EFT using your full name as a reference or via Visa or Mastercard in studio. Unfortunately we do not take cheques, American Express or Diners Club. International EFT's can also be made for overseas clients wishing to secure their session with a deposit, SWIFT details can be provided on request.

Can I cancel my session?

We understand that life happens, appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled but we do request that 48 hours notice is provided. Unfortunately if you cancel or reschedule your appointment with less than 48 hours provided or if you are a no show on the day, the deposit may be forfeited.

Can I change my design after the consult?

Small changes may be made on the day of the session, if you have completely rethought your idea rather let us know in advance so that another consult can be arranged. Our tattooers put a lot of soul in their custom designs, entire revisions of ideas cannot be made on the day of the session, so the more notice the tattooer has on any changes, the better the artwork will be.

What are your hygiene standards?

The serious part. We really do (we don't just say we do) operate with the highest hygiene standards possible.

All of our biohazardous waste is disposed of by a reputable hospital-standard waste company.
All of our needles are single use.
We use barriers on everything possible, to ensure no cross contamination takes place.
We use hospital grade surfactants between every sitting.
All of our equipment is cleaned using an autoclave after every use, and hospital grade disinfectants.
All of our inks are imported originals. We do not use or condone Chinese imitations, or support suppliers who do.
